If you didn’t make it to the Mark Clark Memorial this year, you missed one exciting race! From the heats, to the feature, these guys put on what heck of show for the fans from beginning to end!

The day started out with some of the local drivers taking time out of their busy schedules, pulling their race cars up to the front behind the grandstands, to mingle with fans, sign t-shirts and photo cards and meet little fans. Some kids were treated to an experience of being able to ‘sit’ in some of the cars on hand as the drivers show them what is what on these cars. Little Nat Hamilton, daughter of Christy Graham was all smiles, as she climbed in the newly skinned modified #18 car, with the help of Rookie Driver Greg Owens, so she could feel what it’s like behind the steering wheel of a dirt car.

Super stock drivers Randy Petro #95 (previous 5 time winner of the Mark Clark Memorial) , Jerry Adams #96, Jeremy Helton #6, Jerod Burton #X were on hand greeting little fans, and Modified Driver Greg Amick who usually wheels the #27A modified was doing double duty this evening driving a superstock owned by Jerry Adams, and was signing autographs as well.

27 Superstock cars came to compete for the $1200 purse. After exciting heat wins, Randy Petro #95, Jerry Adams #96, Kevin Jones #16, Jim Phifer #5 would battle for the $100 bonus dash and the top starting spot for the Mark Clark Race. 7.20.14 - July 19, 2014 Results, summary and winners photos

Saturday July 19th not only was the weather perfect in historical Vernon, INDIANA for racing, CUMMINS Employees and fans were pleasantly surprised to see some of the best side by side, dirt slinging, leader switching, dirt track competition so far this year in all of the classes that were on tap this week!

In the late model division, the heat races promised some stiff competition for the upcoming feature. Sure enough, fans were kept on the edge of their seats from start to finish. However, this would not be the night for #19 Marty O’Neal who limped off early with a flat tire. #1 Gary Christian pounced out for the lead, but #89 Barnett,#p1 Prince, #2 Justin Shaw put on quite a show for the crowd competing for a first place finish. Fans were on their feet as Prince scraped the wall during one of his rounds, but managed to stay in the race without even slowing down. #89 Steve Barnett was able to come out on top taking the checkered flag winning the July 19th Late Model Feature. After climbing on top of the racecar, waving the flag, he shared in his victory speech that he and his wife opted racing instead of going out celebrating their anniversary, with her saying he better bring home a trophy. His wife got that feature trophy! Rookie Driver Trent Low #30 ended with an amazing 5th place finish, the best he has done for the year so far. Tim Price #P1 finished second with #2 Justin Shaw, #44 Allen Waltermire, #30 Trent Low rounding out the top five for the night.

In the Modified division, all eyes were on the top three points leaders, #14 Trent Green, #27A Greg Amick, and #12c Bryson Clark. A huge pile up at the beginning of the race managed catch two of the top three point’s leaders, Trent Green and Bryson Clark. Green was able to continue on with the race working his way back up to a ninth place finish, but Clark was not so lucky was towed to the pits. Dave Baldwin#6 would prevail in the end over Greg Amick #27A, Kyle Herbert, Rick Gumm #113 and Jacoby Hines #115.

In the Superstock Division, #95 Gary Rahe Jr gave reigning points leader #95 Randy Petro a run for his money, and helped put on one heck of show with side by side, nose to nose, all out knuckle whitening fight trying to get the win for the evening. Randy Petro #95 would barely prevail over #95 Gary Rahe at the flag to take home the trophy for the evening. Top five were #95 Randy Petro, #95 Gary Rahe Jr, #6J Jeremy Helton, #45 Jamie Wilson, and #16 Kevin Jones.

In the purestock class, the same exciting momentum kept fans on their toes, with Bobby Johnson #31 pulling into lead early on. However, no one wanted a purestock win more than Donnie “Dirt Track” Wilson #78 who kept fighting for the lead, and finally was able to maneuver himself darting out to the front taking the lead. Driver #7 Greg Sims was right on Wilson’s tail, just enough presence to give Wilson an even more tenacious attitude to dig in working harder for the win. His win didn’t come without a fight including #75 Jeff Patterson, #11 Mark Bruce, #11c Troy Clark who kept folks entertained moving up darting side by side, three and four wide the whole race. #78 Donnie ‘Dirt Track” Wilson who has been racing about 35 years, was able to excel and shine for the evening taking home his first ever purestock Twin Cities Raceway Park feature win for the night. He was barely able to contain his excitement, but on a sadder note, his wife Debi who supports him was not there this evening to see the win. However, she was very proud of him, and whole heartedly excited and glad a lot of his supporters were there to cheer him on. Greg Sims #7 came in with a second place finish, followed by #75 Jeff Patterson, #11C Troy Clark, #11 Mark Bruce.

In the hornet division, John Mayer Jr. would take home checkers over Todd Cain #03, Colton Sullivan #8, Austin Burton #10B, and Keegan Cox #23. Click here for full results.
